This is natural behaviour and I can find no evidence of the UK dog population declining because dogs chew on sticks.

Of course monitor and protect but don’t panic or pull their collar if they are just relieving a little stress. Let them be . Live and let live and hug and kiss them – thats all they want after all.

My Staffy loved sticks and once lodged one into her throat, which wasn’t great. But I didn’t stop her playing with them afterwards because it’s natural and what she loved to do. Fair enough, be careful which sticks they chew I understand that. The thing I question though is, which is better? I’ve read articles that certain plastics also cause cancer and I know of one dog who accidentally swallowed a ball, choked and died. The way I see it is, there can be issues, accidents and problems from everything, so let your dog be happy with what they like best, just take precaution.
